We were having sleeping woes. Too long naps in the afternoon, and bedtime being pushed further and further back. So what did we do?
Cut short his nap time to max 1.5hrs by forcibly waking him up. After about 2 wks, he's become accustomed to taking shorter naps, and now goes to bed at the same time as before again.
Actually, i thought his nap timing could be adjusted simply by making it a habit after observing Cayden in Bali. He wakes like clockwork after approx 1-1.5hours, probably thanks to the regime at daycare.
Also, Ignatius is now almost trained to sleep by himself. We have to be in the room 10mins tops, and then can slip out, although we do need to respond to his shouts for us at intervals, at least we can do this from outside the room, where we are busy working on the laptop, on conference calls, or simply playing sudoku!
On a more serious note, it really makes me rethink my stand on those methods out there that advocate regime and timetabling. I think Gina Ford is one of them. I will seriously read through them if number 2 ever comes along!
In the meantime, let Ignatius entertain you with some songs.
