At 16mths, he still shows no sign of cognition that he's peeing. In fact, it was only until last week that he knows what NGG-NGG means: passing of bowels.
It used to be:
Ignatius: *face turns red*, *body is in strange half bent position*, *he is motionless*
Mommy: *waits for him to complete* Ignatius! Did you NGG NGG?
Ignatius: NOOOO! *runs away*
Last week it morphed to:
Ignatius: *face turns red*, *body is in strange half bent position*, *he is motionless*
Mommy: *immediately* Ignatius! Are you NGG NGGing? *screams for Daddy to bring potty*, *takes off Ignatius' diaper already half full of shit*
Ignatius: *sits on potty*
Mommy & Daddy: NGGGG NGGGGGGGGG! NGGG NGGGGGGG! (for like 20mins)
Ignatius: *obliviously plays with his toy car/male organ*, *bored, stands up and walks around*
Mommy: Ignatius, did you NGG NGGG?
Ignatius: NOOOO! *runs away*
(half hour later)
Ignatius: *passes bowels again, coz 1st incomplete coz Mommy interrupted* (what a waste of diapers!)
Mommy: Ignatius, did you NGG NGGGGG?!!!
Ignatius: YEAH. *runs away*
Why does he always run away?!
I just met up with a mommy whose 8mth old daughter is almost fully toilet trained. She doesn't pee into her diapers anymore. She pees into the toilet bowl. If the parents forget to bring her, she simply holds her pee. She also no longer pees during the night!!! At EIGHT months! And she says that all literature recommending toilet training only after 18mths, is bullshit because the research are all commissioned by Pampers. Hmmmm....I need to do more research on this. I don't want my boy to be one of those 4yr olds with diapers.

hey i failed miserably too. It seems you have to toilet train b4 6 mths, otherwise we can wait till preschool 4 the teachers to toilet train. :P

it takes quite a while. u need to find a weekend to stay at home. put him in training pants and go after him every 20 min. slowly increase that time to 30 min, so on and so forth. once he's used to the routine and dislike getting wet, he will learn to tell u when he needs to pee and he will also learn to hold his pee.
Matthew's almost there. Good luck!

The lady whose baby is toilet-trained at 8 months - all along baby on nappy? Or on disposable-wont-feel-wet diapers? Homemaker?
Sorry but I am skeptical about ppl who just brush things like it's nonsense.
Of coz it can be done but it's a hassle for working mom like us coz we will have to ask the caregiver to do it. That's why it's easier if they are bigger. My nephew is toilet-trained when he's exactly 1 yr old.
Now N pees squatting down on our toilet floor. Actually I should have toilet-trained her but *sigh* I am just too lazy!
