10:37 am - In my Bed

Last night was Ignatius' first night in his own bed!
We finally padded up the wall, the headboard, bought a new softer mattress for him, put up the bedrail and plonked him inside to sleep.
It went well. We also managed to wean him off the nightly bottle. After we return home, he'll wash up and change up. When he displays signs of tiredness, we say it's bedtime, a-la SuperNanny style, and put him in and turn off the lights. One of us will then exit, leaving the other parent in the room with him. Guess this is in preparation for eventually BOTH parents leaving the room.

Notice how the emphasis is on padding rather than on aesthetics? The little rascal still tumbles around in his sleep!

*postscript: INITIALLY it went well. After he realised that when we tell him it's BEDTIME it's lights off for him, he screams now. Sigh. After about 5-10mins when he realises he's screaming to no avail, he'll plonk down and settle to sleep. Talk about pushing boundaries.

Haha who cares about aesthetic - safety more impt.
No point having nice pretty place when every morning he wakes up with bruised face.
We made N's and Q's queen size bed as padded as possible ala yours .. hmm actually much worse that yours.
We have 2 bed guards and many pillows and bolster. Mabbe next time show u how horrid it is.
Yours still got class!

The room at SK has padded walls as well - padded wif that styro ABC mat similar to the green one u are using but smaller.
But we hv brought those down recently coz i realised they'r really dusty.

So how' sleeping alone gg? Successful?
N can sleep anywhere on her own if she's dead tired BUT once she wakes up and no one around she'll scream so loud everyone will wake up.

i'm so keen to let M sleep on his own, esp now he sleeps thru the nights most of the time. but his room has bcom sort of store for his stuff. i'm kinda short of a room, as the previous owner had knocked down a room to make a huge squarish living room. and his room has a slanted wall and it's across the living room fr my room. damn designers / architects, what were they thinking!?

qdee shld look at M's sleeping corner now. also all padded and cosy.

Aunty H
well technically, he's not alone. one of us will be in his bed with him till he falls asleep, and we both sleep in the room with him on the mattress on the floor, so that if he has night terrors, he only needs peep down at us to be reassured to go back to sleep. i know for sure that he's not ready to fall asleep ON HIS OWN at night anytime soon!!! daytime, still ok. he'll roam roam roam until dead tired then head to the mattress and fall alseep.

M's mommy
hahaha eternally disagreement b/w civil engrs and architects. think u shld start moving M out. think abt when no2 arrives...
