Ignatius had developed a phobia of walking on grass. It came about because my mother in law doesn't let him walk on the grass during their daily morning and evening walks. Needless to say, after MONTHS of such conditioning that grass is DIRTY, he refuses to walk on grass. I brought him to Botanical Gardens yesterday, armed with bubble liquid and food. We spent half an hour apart. Me on the grass, about 10m away from the pavement, him on the pavement walking up and down and crying piteously, but NEVER even touching the grass patch. Passersby thought I was either really mean, demented or ... whatever. The point is, NOTHING could make him come onto the grass.
So on Sunday, at my mom's place, we put him on the lawn. It's a square shaped lawn, with a cemented portion in the middle where the man-hole cover is. Ignatius cried, as expected. Then he spied the cemented ground, and despite his huge dislike for grass, walked towards it, crying/mewing piteously. We were surprised. He walked! So we spent the next 5-10mins putting him at various parts of the garden, and watched him walk back to his "home base". *hearty laughter*
When Ignatius protested strongly to such treatment, we decided to sweeten it with a trough with ankle deep water. If he walked to it, he could stand in the trough and splash around. Again, we spent about 15mins shifting the 2 protagonists around the lawn. It was hilarious, for us. I'm not sure what Ignatius thought, but he should expect more of it!

On Sunday, we celebrated Corpus Christi. The church also decided to welcome its new Communion Ministers. The priest called for a round of applause to welcome them. The congregation duly brought their hands together. My boy, on hearing the clapping, started clapping his hands furiously, and at the top of his lungs, added a YEAAAAAAAAAAAA! *cringe*
During Mass, we also sing hymns. For some strange reason, Ignatius decided to reward the choir with a round of applause, and a slightly softer YEAAAAAAAAAA! When he realised no one was joining in, and there was no more singing, he did the "no more" hand wave and asked NO MORE? *double cringe*

Sunday night. Ignatius has his nightly bottle on the single-sized bed. Daddy lays down beside him, as usual. However, this night, there is sufficient space and didn't have to move Ignatius over and say Excuse Me! Excuse Me!
However, Ignatius decided he's had enough of being squeezed to the side! He looked at Daddy, "NGEH!!!!! NGEH!!!!! SCUSE! SCUSE!" I believe he nudged Daddy as well! Well done Iggy! *grin*
He's asleep in bed now. He's growing up so fast. I wish I could capture all of these moments that make us helpless with laughter. So precious they are.

We had Father's Day dinner with my parents-in-law on Saturday. Not sure why, but I thought to just let Ignatius drink some water from my cup. And I think I was tired of feeding him, and just let him hold the cup as well. He surprised me by being able to drink competently from the cup! It was only 1/3 full, and he finished all the water. Time to dig out his Sesame Street cups!

Aunt Jan commented during swim class on Saturday that Ignatius' favourite phrase must be I Don't Want! She said she heard it more than 10 times in the first 5-10mins. *laughter* Yes, but I hope he's not going to turn out to be a difficult toddler though. Those that oppose you simply because they can. (my dad is going to find this very familiar sounding... *grin*)
And what's his next favourite phrase? Aiyoh!!!!

Ignatius refused to take his afternoon nap on Saturday before we went out for lunch. Result? He was sitting in his high chair at Crystal Jade at Takashimaya. With each mouthful, his eye lids got heavier and his eyes got smaller. His head got heavier, and there was one point, his head was just on the babychair table. And finally, he did the "bhangra", albeit front and back rather than side to side! He was falling asleep and his head would fall backwards, only to be jerked forwards again when his eyes snap open. I pitied him and carried him to sleep.

Here's a picture of his favourite pastime. Spinning the wheels of the ride-on, rather than riding-on.

Matthew also loves to spin the wheels, rather than ride on his car. :) must be a boy's thing. haha.
