Today started out aimless. No place planned, no activities lined up. We lolled around the house until about 9am, then decided to finally do what Ignatius' future childcare principal and Aunty H said to do.
Visit to childcare for familiarisation
We drove down, and found out that the place was completely deserted. No children were dropped off today, it being a Saturday. There was one lone chinese teacher, and a gardener and some tree cutters, pruning the tall trees in the garden.
We were allowed to roam freely, even though the principal had not arrived yet. Initially, the boy was not too comfortable walking around, and prefered to be carried. But after warming up by playing with the wheels on several trucks and ride-ons, he started exploring the place. He wasn't too keen on interacting with Lao3 Shi1 though. Probably couldn't understand what she was saying!
We ended up in his future classroom, and stayed there for a while, trying to let him get used to it. I think it didn't go too badly. The principal arrived, and brought us out to look at the animal farm. Ignatius loved the bunnies, and even poked one in the nose...several times. He seemed ok with the principal when they interacted one-on-one and we stood some distance off. That's a load off my mind.
In the afternoon was Baby Kayley's first month celebrations! It was nice for Mommy to meet her friends (again) and Ignatius gorged on spicy Malay dry-style mee siam. He was sucking in air in between mouthfuls, and stuffing his fingers in his mouth to scratch his tongue, but he would NOT stop eating the mee siam! Greedy Guz!
On our way back, we had some spare time before Mass and decided to pop to Marina South. Enroute, we saw a sign that said Marina South Pier. We've not seen it before and decided to check it out. Good choice we made. It's a really nice place! It's a pier for barges and bum boats like the now defunct Clifford Pier. The difference is that they have a food court on the second floor, and an open air rooftop on the 3rd floor with great views. Ignatius was running around excitedly going "Shiup! Shiup!".
What got him really REALLY excited, were the water sprinklers. They had come on to water the lawn and our little boy ran here and there under the spray of water. In fact, he ran up to the sprinklers and enjoyed being blasted with water! Can you spot him touching the spray of water in the reflection in the glass pane?
Needless to say, he got drenched.
