We have been struggling with spirituality and Ignatius for a long time now.
When he was younger and NOT mobile, it was easy to go to church every week. We'd sit there, snuggle with him, sing the hymns to him. It was nice. Except when he was grouchy or hungry or asleep, of course.
Now that he is older, he runs around. One of us is constantly shadowing him, to ensure that he doesn't fall down the stairs, trip, or irritate the other worshippers around. We have no idea how to get him to sit down, and join us, and appreciate the music, if nothing else. Also, it's damn tiring to keep chasing after him. Consequently, going for Mass has stopped being a weekly affair, and is now a "if we can" thing.
So, when I saw this article, How to raise a spiritual child, I was all eyes.
Ok, we have to start nightly prayer time. We should start joining faith communities when he's slightly older. We should talk more about God. So that when he's older, and is more cognitive, the notion of God is already in his head.
What a responsibility!
