We were told that being parents would be more fun after Ignatius turns 8mths old. He would be more aware of his surroundings by then, and respond somewhat to us. Well, if that was fun, I'm at a loss for words at how great parenthood is now. And if it only gets better, I'd probably be delirious or even comatose with joy. *grin*
Ignatius has developed a wicked sense of humour in the last few weeks. I don't know how or when it started, but he kind of became a living being in his own right over night. And on top of the humour, he seems to be understanding us better, and can even "answer" now and then! It feels so good to "converse" with my boy...Finally!
1. Play
As we all know, Ignatius is playful. Lately, his favourite game is hide-and-seek. He'd look around for places to hide, expecting you to find him! And when he spies you coming, he'd pop out and go "chia!" and giggle infectiously.
Another thing he likes do is drop down on all fours and peep at you from under chairs/beds/tables, and go "chia!".
It's quite fun, except that sometimes we don't realise he's hiding, and get a tad worried where he is and what danger he might be in!
2. Parrot
He is able to catch more words now. And selective repeats after us. Dunno how kids do it, but they always manage to catch the words that are most inappropriate and will sound the cutest coming from them, making it hard for you to gently admonish them. You can't help but laugh!
Also, I forsee Ignatius becoming a true-blue Singaporean with colloquial slangs included.
"Maybe lah"
"Aiyoh"
"Shit lah"
"Lai2" (mandarin for Come)
3. Tease
Ignatius recently learnt how to kiss. But he'll only do it in the dark! He'll put both his hands on either side of your face, and draw you close for a kiss. Sometimes, he'll turn away at the last moment, and giggle like a blushing bride and hide his face.
He'll offer you his toys, his food, and pull them away at the last moment and laugh.
He knows what is forbidden, and purposefully does it while eye-balling you. Then he'll shake his head while saying "No no" and laugh and run away when you reach out to stop him.
He'll grin mischievously at you and walk backwards away from you when he knows you want him to come over.
He hides things and asks us "Where?", complete with the open palm gesture, and REALLY innocent look.
Guess there are many more moments. Much more than I'm able to remember and list down. Here are just a few to jog our memories in future when Ignatius is older and we're reminiscing.

This was taken at Tony Romas. They're really child friendly, providing Ignatius with colouring materials and crayons. We had a good meal that day!
This was taken at Thai Express. We learnt how to let Ignatius self feed rice here! Usually, we'll put the rice on the spoon, which would have all dropped off by the time he brought it to his mouth. Daddy found out that we can actually squash the rice along the edge of the spoon to get it to stick, so that it'll last the journey to Ignatius' mouth, and yet be easy enough for him to lick it off!
This is a shot of the usually greedy little boy. He absolutely has to have a share of what everyone is eating. Here he is stealing some of Daddy's dessert!

We were supposed to have gone with Joshua and Yi Xuan and Cheng En to Animal Resort on Vesak Day. However, it rained and it was cancelled. So, we headed to West Coast Park. Here, we found many kite enthusiasts. Ignatius stared in fascination at the beautiful kites.
