Ignatius is now 14mths+. We decided to go for his MMR jab yesterday. I flipped open his Health Booklet, and eh...we had actually pre-paid for the Hepatitis A and Chickenpox jab! Ok, those first then.
To be very honest, we decided to let Ignatius have BOTH jabs at the same time to save ourselves $42 extra of consultation fee. A lame reason to subject our boy to such torture, yes. BUT, if we wanted to cover up, i'd say we gave him both jabs so that we can finish the whole course of immunization by the time he's enrolled into childcare in Oct. After all, he still as the flu jab, the pneumoccocal jab and the MMR jab, all to be taken individually, at least one month apart.
Anyways, whatever reason we use, Ignatius bore the brunt of it. He was jabbed, TWICE. One on each arm.
It was really really heartbreaking. The nurse kept repeating that she felt like some sinner jabbing poor innocent babies, Daddy was hugging Ignatius tightly, so that he can't squirm. Mommy was pinning down his arms so that he doesn't break the needle. And we had to do this TWICE. The first jab wasn't so bad. We distracted him initially with some pictures on the wall. But the second one...sigh. He was still crying from the pain of the first one, and we were already pinning him down again. When the 2nd needle went in, my heart nearly broke from his pained cries. Ignatius is a brave boy. He stopped crying quite quickly...after we whipped out some Gerber puffs. *grin*
Well, for that, he was king for the rest of the day. He got everything he wanted. Every whim and fancy.
By the way, he's officially 77cm, clocking in at 10.6kg. Medium height, upper-medium weight. Quite proportionate on the whole.
