5:44 pm - It didn't seem so long ago...

This morning, Ignatius managed to pull down his crayons from on top of the tall dresser. The dresser is about as high as my chest. My boy is really GROWING.
It didn't seem so long ago, that he could barely touch the alarm bell in the lift, standing on his tipsy toes. Now, he can even open and close the door (these buttons are above the alarm bell).

It didn't seem so long ago that we were trying to get him to have an imagination. Now, he's into pretend-everything. Pretend crocodiles, pretend faces (he puckers and frowns and squints), pretend aeroplanes (yes, even cars fly!), pretend food, he even draws squiggles on his magnetic doodle pad and tells us proudly what it is! A small squiggle will be FLOWER, and a mass of squiggles will be MAO1 (cat), some boxy shape will be CAR.

It didn't seem so long ago that he was rolling around his baby cot and putting him to sleep was a nightmare, having to carry/cuddle him, or watch him roll and jump around before he concusses. Now, he goes to his adult sized bed when he's tired, or when we tell him it's bedtime.

It didn't seem so long ago that we bought him his first pair of soft leather shoes. Now, he's wearing uber cool "trainers" and running all over the place.

It didn't seem so long ago that we were holding both his arms to support him as he walks, puppet style. Now, he runs ahead of us. He can even walk up and down the stairs holding just one of our hands. In fact, he can walk up and down a small step independently, not holding onto anything.

It didn't seem so long ago that I was puree-ing his food and storing batches in the freezer. Now, he eats adult food, and each meal must be accompanied by traditional Cantonese soup. It didn't seem so long ago that mealtimes were strictly sit down affairs. Now, mealtimes are all over the place...on the carpet, under the table, in front of the tv, ... It didn't seem so long ago that anything can be stuffed into his mouth and gobbled down. Now, only selective food goes in.

It didn't seem so long ago that I ran to him while he lay on the mattress. Now, he runs to me and my wide open arms.

It didn't seem so long ago that I wished he was an independent toddler. Now, I wish he was a nice cuddly infant again. He's a squirmy, squiggly, struggly, strong willed, stubborn, screamy, highly excitable toddler.

It didn't seem so long ago that we were dressing him, worried that we'll injure his soft head as we pulled shirts over his head. Now, he pulls his own shirts over his head, either wearing or taking off.

Then again, he's only 17.5mths old! haha
