9:19 am - Just Like You

Ignatius wants to be all grown up. Geez...I thought this phase only comes when they go into their teens!

He wants to drive like Daddy.
Ignatius loves to get behind the wheel. We have countless pictures of him "driving" our family car. Removing him from the driver's seat invariably means bucket of tears and screaming.
So, we let him test drive the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe. He loved it! So Por Por and Gong Gong got him an upsized one...the Little Tikes GRAND Coupe. Yups, you guessed it. He LOVES it!

(Warning: He goes round and round. Those who get dizzy...beware!)

He wants to eat what everyone eats.
We used to pack his meal, and feed him when the adults are having their meal when we eat out. And when he's done with his, he'll snack on our food.
The other variant is that we'll plonk ourselves at the most convenient place with a baby chair (read: fastfood restaurant), and feed him while we settle our meal.
We used to thank our lucky stars that luckily he's willing to eat his own healthy meal, leaving us to eat our junk food. Of course, we know our good luck will not hold out forever. We just wonder when we'll have to trade fastfood for healthy (read: expensive) restaurant food.

The dreaded day has come. He now wants OUR food instead of his own!

We have gone through our bag of tricks.
1. Pretend-dip his spoon (with his food on it) into our food, and try and trick him that it is OUR food he's eating.
2. Use our utensils instead of his spoon. This is in the hope that he wants to be like us, and the actual food doesn't matter.
3. Put his food on our plates, and feed him from the plate. Again, we were hoping he wants to merely imitate us.
4. Put his food on the spoon, and put minimal of OUR food on top, just to disguise it.
5. Give him one spoon of his food, one spoon of our food.
6. Variants of the above.

Well, the conclusion? None of the above works! Ignatius doesn't just want to be like us, he genuinely WANTS OUR FOOD! oh no! Any one has a list of food places with healthy food, and baby chair to boot?

We have capitulated on 4 instances that we can think of. He little twit got to eat
1. Prawn Cracker at Sanur with Aunty Lynette. Boy were we tempted to plonk on the chili to dissuade him!
2. Claypot rice at home. We actually left him to play in the living room...but the little twit SMELT the fragrant coming from the kitchen, and actually made his way there!
3. Roti prata with curry. Yups, he ate the curry. He didn't display any signs that it was hot, but he sure drank a tonne of water!
4. Sushi rice. Well, the rice that comes with the sushi, not the sushi itself. Although Daddy can't wait to introduce raw fish to Ignatius (yucks!).

We're sure this list will grow...which is alright as long as the food is healthy...and soy free...and milk free...

Maybe it's time to just eat at home...

He wants to fiddle with things Daddy & Mommy fiddle with.
Well...I basically have no issue with this. Just that we need to be extra careful with what items we pick up and examine during shopping trips...coz Ignatius will invariable want to hold it as well. Our biggest mistake was picking up a toy telephone at MothersWorks...boy did he scream when he wasn't allowed to play with it.
Anyway, that's not the worst of it. Here's what Ignatius wanted over the weekend.
Oh No! Accountant???!
