We had an open house as our friends have not seen neither our new dwelling, nor our little boy. Most have only watched him grow up on this blog. We didn't realise it was such a big undertaking.Food was ordered from Jennifer's Professional Caterers as they were halal. Balloons were ordered from Grefio's as they do personalized letters on the balloons. The rest of the party decor was bought from Takashimaya when they had their Sesame Street fair (yes...way back in Dec 05!).
Getting Ignatius' birthday cake nearly drove Mommy nuts. I hunted high and low for a bakery that could make dairy and egg free cakes. Finally, I stumbled upon Conscious Cake. They used canola oil in place of milk, and an egg substitute. *Phew* imagine my joy. My boy can now literally have his cake and eat it! To take care of the adults, Pine Garden graciously helped us incorporate it on their delicious Orange Zest Chocolate cake! In the picture below, the Number 1 is actually the Really Chocolate Cake from Conscious Cake warpped in cellophane and foil, and decorated with cream.

Before our guests arrived, we had some play time with Ignatius. We put on the party hat for him. He didn't quite like it as it was quite tight around his abundunt cheek and chin.
Ignatius' baby guests arrived. Matthew arrived first, followed by Yi Xuan, Cayden and Cherylin. Nayli was not feeling well and could not join them. We discovered something today...I think it is a milestone of sorts. The babies, or rather toddlers now, did not like to play together anymore! We watched as they each took a different spot on the playmat to play with a toy, individually! I was amazed as they usually like to sit together and interact with each other. A clear sign that they were growing up, and were beginning to realise their own individuality, and were discovering themselves. I learnt that they will be like that until the age of about 2. Anyways, the mommies repositioned them back together again. =)

It was finally cake cutting time! Ignatius was quite mesmerized by the candles and the design on the cake. Too bad he didn't know how to blow out the candles! Cousin Jared blew out the big 1 in his excitment, while Daddy & Mommy helped out on the 2 stars. Ignatius had a part in cutting the cake though.
This little boy was so caught up in the excitment of the day that he didn't take his afternoon nap. Instead, he spend the afternoon being passed round from one auntie to another, and a few uncles as well! We're glad that he passed the stranger anxiety phase after the Chinese New Year visitations. He lasted all the way till abt 7pm, and took a half hour nap.
Ignatius received many toys and many red packets and many clothes and many well wishes from all the uncles and aunties. Thank you!

Wow, sounds like Ignatius had a lot of fun! Party looks great, plus your place looks great, the cake looks great, everything just perfect! How much did you pay for the 1 cake? Did he lap it up?

hi hi!
Thanks for all the "great"s.
There's a whole story behind the 1 cake.
You can actually get just one SLICE from Whatever Cafe, which was my original plan. However, they failed to deliver my one SLICE, so i had to call Conscious Cakes direct, and buy one WHOLE CAKE from them (the nice lady Sabreena baked it for me on the spot as i was supposed to deliver it to Pine Garden 2 hours ago!). It cost me $35 instead of the original $6.50. sigh...oh well...as long as he got to eat the cake! He didn't exactly lap it up, but he did eat it. Thank God!
