My my, it does seem like time has flown past us real fast this year. Our little boy is growing up so fast, and coming to 2 very soon. Every so often, when we look at him, it's hard to believe he's ONLY 2 years old. He's like a mini adult!
He pretends to be grown up and mimics us, he's gone onto sentences instead of monosyllabic words, he really speaks his mind and makes his wishes known, he knows when he's gone too far and comes to pacify us, he tells us he wants MacDonald Breakfasts, he climbs the ladder of his double-decker bed by himself to the top bunk, he relates what happened that day in school and tells us which teacher has been sneaking him Gummy Bears, he mixes with other toddlers and "kaypohs" around them when they congregate, he's as long as his bedside barrier, ... the list can go on and on.
Yet on other times, he behaviour belies his true age. He still goes into fits of frustration tantrums. He's still testing the edges of his boundaries. He still has moments where he cannot understand us, nor make us understand him. But, we still love him as much, if not much more!

This Lunar New Year is his second. And I am sure he enjoyed every bit of it. He got to drink packet after packet of Yeo's/Marigold, eat slice after slice of Kueh Lapis, roll after roll of love letters, chunk after chunk of jelly, piece after piece of bak gua, and even pieces of chocolate! He was perpetually on a sugar high for the 3 days of the new year, and bouncing off the walls! He hardly took any afternoon naps, save for 20 mins everyday in the car. By the 3rd day, he was so exhausted, he slept for 3.5hrs straight in the afternoon, and still went to bed at the same time that night! It was TIRING, extremely so, to look after him in that hyper state. Some detox is in store after all the visitations are over! Not to mention lots of exercise. =)
Speaking of which, with the recent lovely weather in February, the beach and Botanic Gardens are invariably on the cards during the weekends. It's been a long time since we were confined to either the house, or shopping malls, and boy are we glad to get sunshine and fresh air again!
