2:53 pm - fast forward to May

April was gone in a flash... and soon Ignatius started his music lessons at Seimpi (which he still is attending now miracle of miracles!)
It was also a month of spending a lot of time with Daddy. ...because his little sister arrived!

Introducing Isabel! She came out at 2.88kg, only 46 cm long!

Thankfully, Ignatius loved his little sister to bits right from the very start. No fuss, no tears, no tantrums. Just lots and lots of unconditional love! The big boy just had to be a part of everything!

As for Isabel, she's one fiesty girl. She came out SHRIEKING (ok, we took you out 2 .5 wks too early) and abated only after 10mins! Everyone in the OT commented on her strong lungs. Daddy and i were a bit worried about our sanity in the nights to come, given how Ignatius only mewed like a cat on his arrival 3 years ago. She was also more curious of her surroundings than Ignatius. Here's a pic of her opening her eyes at the hospital. Ignatius just simply would not open his for the first wk or 2.
Here's the happy girl after we took her home. And look how Ignatius has grown!

2:32 pm - it's been a while

it's been a while since we blogged... coz we've all been busy with a new arrival!
But before we launch into the new phase of our lives, let's back track a bit on Ignatius...

We had a post on his 3rd birthday bash with Yi Xuan, now let's see what he had in school! This is his last year with Carpe Diem as he's moving to SJKC next year.

Here's the birthday boy with his bunch of balloons and THOMAS!

We had mini cupcakes made this year as it saves a lot of hassle on cake cutting.

And we have the obligatory song and clap routine for Happy Birthday Ignatius!

Then the children get to enjoy the cupcakes. Some had 2 servings!

Here's Ignatius, Isabel and Mummy!

Now, the interesting part begins. With most parties, the goody bags are handed out by the celebrant, roaming around the place looking for his/her friends. Here, they sit everyone in a circle, with the celebrant at one end.

Then one by one, the celebrant calls out the names of his friends, and they come up to collect their goodie bag.
And the best part is, the celebrant gets to hug and kiss ALL of his friends!

12:40 pm -

Our little rascal is growing up fast...and becoming a little monkey! Nothing he loves more than to race around, hang from bars and climb all sorts of things! Here's a little collage of him at YiXuan's school's funfair.

9:57 am - sk8ter boi

Finally here are the pictures of ignatius on the wheels that Aunty LM bought for his xmas prezzie! Think YX looks more pro on hers though! haha
during the course of taking these photos, we left Ignatius on his own to "skate" around the house, and he fell down 3x. i guess besides the helmet, elbow/knee/palm guards, he needs a pillow on his bum too!

9:15 am - Bells and Whistles

Mommy : Ignatius, do you know what is Mei Mei's name?
Ignatius : (distracted by new train tracks) huh?
Mommy & Daddy : Mei Mei's name is Isabel (iz-a-belle)
Ignatius : Isabel? (perfect pronunciation)
Mommy : Yes. You like?
Ignatius : Yes! Isabel! (strokes and kisses tummy)

We decide to wait a while before testing him again to see if he was really paying attention, and really likes the name.

Mommy : Ignatius, what is Mei Mei's name?
Ignatius : (again busy with train tracks but turns around) JINGLE BELL!
Daddy : (uncontrollable laughter)

oh no!!! hahahaha

2:52 pm - Duck Tour

Just for the record, Ignatius went on his first Duck Tour in November 07 with his classmates and Daddy! Again, it's so outdated, i'll just let the pics speak for themselves. But one thing that Ignatius was able to tell me after the event, was that it was loud! I think he meant the engine of the bus/boat.

9:51 am - I am 3!

Before this becomes too belated a post... here's a pictorial round up of Ignatius' birthday celebration at Gogo Bambini's. A lot of the photos can be found on Yi Xuan's blog as CW was pseudo official photographer for the event so go there and check it out too!

The day started out overcast, and soon it began to pour. Thank goodness it let up somewhat as it neared the party time of 10am. Ignatius was mightly pleased with his new Thomas polo tee, and with his Thomas socks, we were ready to be off! We arrived early, hoping to go in and settle down soon, but Gogo really opens their doors at 10am sharp and we had to wait outside a while.
When we got in, only Ignatius, En and Yi Xuan had arrived, and they managed to get nice body paintings on their arms.
That was all the patience Ignatius had... he was lured by the playscape! He loved the ball pit, and spent a large part of the time there prior to the arrival of his guests. (photos of playscape and guests at Yi Xuan's blog)

When guests arrived, the party host managed to round up all the little children for of 5 mins before losing them to the playscape again. The adults managed to spend some relaxing time eating the food platters, except the daddies of course who were dragged by their little ones into the playscape! haha
I heard that Ignatius climbed all over the playscape with his classmate Kotoko hand in hand, who was dressed really sweetly in a barbie doll pink dress. (see happy photo of the pair in the ball pit on YX's blog)

About half hour later, the kids were rounded back up again for their snacks.
And very soon after, the cake and agar agar arrived! Thomas the Train for Ignatius, and Elmo for Yi Xuan!
Of course, i think the most exciting event of the day (besides the playscape) was the Elmo Pinata! Some of the kids were afraid of hitting Elmo with the big red stick, but ALL were happy when the sweet started falling out of poor Elmo! They were given a bag each to fill... and look at the little rascal with his! After that unfortunately, we ran out of time and had to vacate the room pronto as the next party would start soon. Several of the boys were upset at having no more time in the playscape, and all had to be carried out in tears.
However, all in all, i think the kids had a nice time. Check out the birthday boy and his goodie bag!
His birthday is actually tomorrow, and we'll have a small mini celebration in school as well. Watch out for the next post!

3:00 am - 2nd Lantern Festival at Botanic Gardens

Gosh... this post has been in draft since August 07. It was one of the few events we had with Cayden before he flew to the big US of A. This is the 2nd time we had a lantern gathering, and boy was it much better. The kids can now hold their lanterns themselves! It's so outdated i'll just let the pics speak for themselves.

Enjoying a drink before heading out

9:26 am - Me me Me

Ignatius has hated school since he transfered from Toddler class to N1. We're not quite sure why... we spent many days pondering over the issue...

1) Was it that he didn't like his new teacher?
2) Was it that his new teacher didn't like him?
3) Was it that his "tales" are true and his classmates were hitting him?
4) Was it that he couldn't take the more structured classroom setting?
5) Was it that he was no longer the teacher's pet?

He would cry every day and beg us not to bring him to school. It really broke our hearts. At some point, we were wondering whether to convert him back to half day childcare...
But to all the questions above, we know that that is the "running away" solution. There are other more orthodox ways of solving the problem...

1) Too bad, he just has to get used to it... that's how important having good teachers are i guess.
2) Same as the above! but we do wonder why his teacher doesn't like our cute adorable boy...
3) We tried to clarify this with his teachers, but they all insist that no such thing has happened.
4) A bit hard to verify this...but we asked the teachers if N1 was drastically different from Toddler class, and they said no...the playtime was quite comparable.
5) If this is true, it means that he really truly craves attention. If so, then we should let him remain in full day to get used to it. After all, as he goes up the education system, it is likely that he will be less and less the centre of everyone's attention. He has to get used to it.

Anyway, this week, i think we finally hit the correct solution. We've been giving him little treats to bring to school everyday. Some raisins, some chocolate filled biscuits... and he's been loving going to school since. He loves announcing to the teachers that he's got something in his pocket, and he obviously loves being able to be the "big boss" figure in class and share with his classmates. Today, his classmates greeted him with glee, and i think that we've finally hit the nail on the head.

HE CRAVES ATTENTION!

While this may be a natural phenomenon for his age group, i do hope it will wear off as he grows up. Else, he may have trouble adapting to "higher education"... like when he goes to his new school next year.
